An animal charity has appealed to trace the mum of seven puppies left abandoned in a box by the side of a busy Nantwich road.

A passerby found the puppies, thought to be Huskies, in a cardboard box by Middlewich Road on Monday night and took them to a local vets who contacted Animal Lifeline.

Cash-strapped Cheshire East is next week set to extend the contract of an interim monitoring officer until October – at a whopping cost to the council of £1,121 a day.
