A flood warning has now been issued for Nantwich and the River Weaver at Shrewbridge Lodge.
The Environment Agency has upgraded its initial Flood Alert to the more serious Warning due to very high river levels of the Weaver through the town.
A Flood Alert has been issued for the river Weaver catchment area in Nantwich, Crewe, Winsford and Northwich areas.
Heavy rain from Storm Bella after previous rain over the past week has left levels very high in Nantwich, flooding footpaths close by.
Cheshire East has today (December 26) moved into tier 3 – the Covid ‘very high alert’ level.
The change came into effect at a minute past midnight, in the early hours of Boxing Day.

Both Cheshire’s councils have been named as “high alert” areas on the government’s new coronavirus ranking.
The news was confirmed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson in a statement to the House of Commons this afternoon.

The River Weaver catchment area was under an official Flood Alert, with the Shrewbridge Lodge location in Nantwich subject to a more serious Flood Warning.
The public is being warned about high rivers and flooded roads and pavements as heavy rain is set to continue in South Cheshire over the next 24 hours.
An official Flood Warning – which states “immediate action is required” – is in place on River Weaver in Nantwich, as of 6.30pm tonight (June 12).
