Behaviour at CEC under Michael Jones “one of worst examples”

The behaviour and culture at Cheshire East Council under the leadership of Michael Jones is “one of the worst examples” the investigating auditors had ever come across, the council was told.

The public interest report, from the council’s former auditors Grant Thornton, referred to bullying and intimidation under the former Conservative leader, who stepped down in 2015.

A senior councillor has moved to reassure Cheshire East Council’s opposition leader that a costly workplace culture scheme is tackling bullying at the local authority.

Cheshire East Council paid consultancy firm Sticky Change £152,460 to help it work on a ‘brighter future together’ programme during 2018-19 – a scheme designed to improve the local authority’s workplace culture.
