How much countryside must disappear before local residents are finally listened to?
Like many people in Wistaston, I am absolutely furious at the proposed “Crewe West” development and the apparent willingness of Cheshire East Council to wave through the destruction of yet more green farmland for the benefit of a major developer.

I am furious and deeply alarmed by Harworth Group Plc’s outrageous proposal to construct a sprawling housing development – deceitfully named ‘Crewe West’- on the precious green fields of Wistaston, not Crewe as they so conveniently suggest.

Five candidates will battle it out in the Crewe West ward next month for a seat on Cheshire East Council.
The seat became vacant after former Labour councillor Connor Naismith was elected as the new Crewe and Nantwich MP in July’s general election.
The Crewe and Nantwich MP claims the Crewe West by election result shows people are “fed up with local Labour councillors”.
Crewe Labour Party won the seat, but its share of the vote hit a ten-year low, mirroring poor performances in local elections around the UK.
Residents in Nantwich will get to vote on who should be their Police and Crime Commissioner at local elections on May 6.
There are also a small number of Cheshire East Council Ward councillor elections taking place, including Crewe West by-election.
