Ukulele fans across the UK played all the right tunes to raise almost £4,000 at a Nantwich festival. The third annual N’Ukefest Ukulele Festival, held at The Cotton Arms in Wrenbury, was organised by Nantwich band The N’ukes.
N’Ukefest in Wrenbury near Nantwich is set to be a big pull next month for ukulele fans across the UK. The annual event has grown due to demand, and this year will be staged at The Cotton Arms over three days May 16 -18.
Nantwich Young Farmers are to host their traditional festive show in aid of Leukaemia Research. The group will stage their version of “Snow White & the seven lumberjacks” from January 8 onwards at Acton Village Hall.
Staff and visitors at a marina near Nantwich have helped to raise more than £1,000 for charities. Aqueduct Marina, at Church Minshull, has staged a number of events to raise the cash in the marina café and reception area.
Leighton Hospital teams raised more than £4,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support – the highest of any hospital in Cheshire. The teams ran various coffee and cake events, to top the Cheshire fund-raising league for the second year running.
A marina near Nantwich is getting involved in the Macmillan Cancer Support World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. Swanley Bridge Marina is to host a coffee morning at the venue’s Boathouse on Springe Lane , Swanley, on Saturday September 28.
Nantwich residents are invited to the Macmillan Cancer Unit at Leighton Hospital for coffee and cake as part of a national fundraising day. The Macmillan team is taking part in Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday September 27.
Local firm CTC Physiotherapy are to join 50 other companies in this year’s Nantwich Show Town and Country marquee. CTC, which operates clinics in Crewe and Nantwich, is attending the show on July 31 for the 5th year running.
Nantwich-based students have donated more than £9,000 to raise awareness of a life-threatening condition affecting young people. Proceeds from Reaseheath College’s RAG (Raising and Giving) activities were handed to the Oliver King Foundation at the students’ summer graduation ball.
