Sixteen of the council’s libraries have opened their doors again and have done so with full Covid-safe restrictions in place.

Cheshire East Council says it is preparing for the reopening of town centres like Nantwich and urging businesses to access support available.

All non-essential retail will reopen from Monday April 12, as well as restaurants, bars and cafes for outdoor table service and hair and nail salons, libraries, and gyms.

Cheshire Police have issued a plea for drinkers to “help keep themselves and others safe” when visiting re-opened pubs, bars and restaurants this weekend.

It’s the second weekend such venues have been allowed to open, and police expect thousands more people to be out.

UPDATE… Roads reopening after huge fire hits Nantwich traffic

Roads are re-opening in Nantwich following the huge blaze at a scrap metal yard on Alvaston Business Park this morning. The only road still closed is the westbound carriageway of the Nantwich  bypass between Reaseheath and Sainsbury’s roundabout (as at 11.15am Oct 7).
