Cheshire East highways officers are “dragging their feet” over schemes being funded by councillors’ ward budgets – with one saying Cheshire East faces losing nearly £50,000 of investment because “we can’t get a response”.
Cllr Craig Browne was speaking as the highways and transport committee which discussed the member ward budget scheme.

Cheshire East Council is facing a potential future shake-up of wards and councillors because the Local Government Boundary Commission plans to review its electoral arrangements.
The review will look at how many councillors the authority should have, how many council wards there should be, where boundaries should be, what the wards should be called, and how many councillors should represent each ward.
The May 4 local elections sees a major change for Nantwich Town Council which is being split into three wards and will elect 15 councillors in total.
Boundary changes mean the town council will cover a larger population and area.
