Former Shavington Youth Centre to be auctioned

The Victorian former schoolhouse and youth centre in Shavington has been put up for auction despite a two-year campaign by local councillors and MP Kieran Mullan to save it.

The building has stood vacant for over two years but efforts to retain it as a community asset have failed.

Plans have been submitted for a new indoor boxing club and gym on the site of the former Crewe Youth Centre which burned down in 2014.

The proposal is to create a new home for South Cheshire Amateur Boxing Club (SCABC), a registered charity which has worked with young people in Crewe for more than 11 years.
