A talented swimmer from Nantwich hoping to qualify for the London 2012 Olympics, has linked up with a college Fitness Academy to boost her performance.
Charlotte Bradbury is hoping to compete in the 200m breaststroke event in London if she secures a place at final trials this month.
The 16-year-old former Malbank School pupil, a member of City of Liverpool Swimming Club, is ranked fourth in the open age category but needs to finish second at the trials to secure an Olympics spot.
And Charlotte, from Willaston, is stepping up her fitness ahead of the trials with extra training at South Cheshire College’s Fitness Academy under the guidance of personal trainer Jon Venables.
Charlotte said: “I’m so close to going to the Olympics but if there’s one thing that lets me down it’s the power I generate in my lower body when I’m in the water.
“I’ve really benefited from coming to the Fitness Academy because it’s on my doorstep and I’m able to drop in most days which fits in with my training in the pool.
“Jon has been a big help and is doing a lot of work with me. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that it all pays off.”
Charlotte will compete in the trials at the Olympics pool which hosts the Games’ competitions from July 27 to August 12.
Jon said: “Charlotte generates a lot of power with her arms but not as much with her legs and lower body so we’ve been working with her to try and build that up.”
