Cllr Moran attended over 85 functions as Mayor during a year in which his wife Margaret passed away.

He said: “It has been a great privilege and honour to be Mayor for this wonderful town. It’s also been one of the most difficult years of my life with the loss of my wife Margaret.

“We were married 42 years, and she was an extremely brave lady dealing with a terminal illness in the way she did. My faith, family, friends and colleagues gave me the strength to keep going.”
