Alternative Meats company

An expanding meat company has opened a new base near Nantwich.

Alternative Meats Ltd has moved to newly converted premises and has started to trade from a new butchery and cold stores.

The growing business chose a new site at the Park View Business Centre, on the edge of the Combermere Estate.

Jeannie Edgar, co-director, said: “We searched long and hard for somewhere in the area to relocate to.

“Converting a redundant farm barn into our own bespoke workspace has been a great way of taking our business on to a different level.”

Fellow director Rachel Godwin added: “We wanted to minimise the number of lost days and make our move seamless.

“Nantwich Refrigeration did a great job installing our new fridge and freezers and they helped us to ensure there were no delays in satisfying our customers.”

Alternative Meats produces a range that includes more exotic, such as kangaroo, ostrich and crocodile, as well as non-mainstream British-farmed products that make up their “Deliciously Different” range.

This includes Rose Veal, Welsh Wagyu, Herdwick Mutton, Cheshire Goat and Water Buffalo.

The company supplies to Jamie Oliver and other celebrity chefs, such as Tom Aikens and Sat Baines.

Peter Beckett, who runs Park View Business Centre, said: “Attracting Alternative Meats to the area is a great win for us, adding further vibrancy into the rural community.

“Converting our second redundant farm barn has been terrific and is another step forward in providing great value working environments in the countryside.”
