Nantwich sprinter Hayley Jones has been selected for England’s athletics squad for the Commonwealth Games this summer.
Former Malbank High School student Hayley will compete in the 4x100m relay team at the Games in Glasgow.
It’s crowned a great year for the 25-year-old, who now runs for club side Wigan & District, and trains in Loughborough.
Last August, she was part of the GB sprint relay team which scooped a bronze medal in the World Championships in Moscow.
And just last month she was part of the squad which competed in the World Relay Championships in sun-drenched Bahamas.
Jones continued her good form when she took part in the Northern and Midland Counties Championships at the weekend.
She clinched first place in the 200m final with a speedy 23.66secs at Sportcity, equalling her personal best this season.
The athletics part of the Commonwealth Games is being held at Hampden Park between July 27 and August 2.
The Games begin on July 23 and close on August 3.
Jones is also bidding to secure a place in the GB squad for the European Athletics Championships, which take place in Zurich between August 12 and 17.
