Nantwich’s Age UK shop in Swine Market is desperate for more volunteers.
The charity wants local people to sign up as a volunteer to help raise much-needed funds to support the charity’s work.
The appeal comes as part of Volunteer Week 2016 from June 1-12.
Age UK has more than 410 shops across the UK, which are supported by dedicated staff and volunteers.
The Nantwich shop is running a taster session this Thursday (June 9) for people interested in volunteering.
It will run at 10am, and the two-hour session will offer a flavour of what to expect covering activities and an overview of the shop.
Volunteers can support the shop behind the scenes and on the shop floor, including serving customers and creating displays, managing stock donations and assisting with shop administration.
Jayne Tunstall, shop manager at the Swine Market shop, said: “We’re reliant on the support of generous volunteers and we are appealing to anyone in the local area who may be able to give up some time to help out.
“Not only will you meet new people and be a key part of the local community, you will also be helping Age UK raise vital funds.
“If you can help us please come inside and have a chat. Small amounts of time really can make a huge difference.”
Barbara German, a volunteer at the Nantwich shop, said: “Volunteering is really enjoyable – it’s great to know you are making a difference and giving something back.
“As well doing a variety of different tasks in the shop, I meet new people every day.
“I have made good friends with both the shop team and people in the local community and would encourage anyone thinking of signing up to give volunteering a go.”
Age UK shops generate funds for the charity’s work with older people, while encouraging people to recycle unwanted goods.
