Showtime - Crewe Lyceum Theatre, to stage a wedding fayre, and summer events

Death Toll, the latest offering from thriller playwright James Cawood, is to play at Crewe Lyceum next week.

The show stars Corrinne Wicks (Doctors, Emmerdale) and Tom Butcher (Doctors, The Bill).

It is set in a desolate ex-hunting lodge in the Scottish Highlands.

The plot follows a famous playwright and his wife as they await the arrival of his new ‘muse’ – a charismatic young actor determined to secure a role in the playwright’s latest production.

What starts out as a seemingly innocent, though macabre audition soon leads to an evening of twists, turns and eventually murder.

Lyceum marketing officer Michelle May said: “Thriller-lovers won’t be disappointed with the chilling combination of menace, deception and uncertainty which is at the heart of James Cawood’s writing.

“A perfect opportunity for a really unique night out this summer, Death Toll is sure to have the audience on the edge of their seats!”

Wicks is best known for her roles as Dr Helen Thompson in BBC soap Doctors and as Ella Hart in ITV’S Emmerdale.

She also starred in Harbour Lights, Holby City and The Bill, and her theatre credits include Trevor Nunn’s production of Harold Pinter’s Betrayal at The Royal National Theatre, and James Cawood’s previous stage thriller Stone Cold Murder.

Tom Butcher, real-life spouse of his co-star, is recognised for playing PC Steve Loxton in The Bill, as well as his roles in Doctors and Casualty.

Death Toll is presented by Talking Scarlet Productions.

It runs from Monday to Wednesday August 8-10, shows start 7.30pm.

Tickets are bookable online at crewelyceum.co.uk or via the Box Office.
