40,000 people - Nantwich Food Festival 2017 (4)

One of Nantwich’s biggest events kicks off in four days when tens of thousands of people are expected to descend on Nantwich Food Festival.

Organisers are promising a “spectacular feast of entertainment for all the family” during the three-day event, September 1-3.

They are expecting the town streets to be packed with more than 40,000 visitors.

More than 200 exhibitors from Cheshire and across the country bring fresh produce and unusual new recipes to the festival’s marquees.

Well-known local organisations such as Mornflake, Bentley Motors, County Insurance, Hall Smith Whittingham, Cheerbrook, Aga, Engenie and Nantwich Town Council have helped fund the event.

Headline chef Candice Brown will bring her “Bake-Off” to the festival with a series of cooking demonstrations from her book *Comfort: Delicious Bakes and Family Treats*.

Clover Hutson will compere a host of other chefs in the Aga-Bentley Food Theatre, including home economist Claire Bassano and Luca Rizzotto from Romazzino restaurant in Nantwich.

Shane Guildford, from South Cheshire College’s award-winning Academy restaurant, will also take to the hob.

Returning this year is the high-energy show by CBeebies favourite Katy Ashworth.

This year, Hall Smith Whittingham’s Family FunZone marquee will stage dance and circus workshops, music from RedShift Radio, traditional games, crazy bubbles, face-painting fun and much more.

A BBQ grill-off, sponsored by Cheerbrook Farm Shop, will test amateur chefs on the coals, while a vegetable-themed cake competition will judge the most creative cooks.

The Chilli cook-off will raise the temperature and could see the Nantwich heat winner jet off to the USA for the World Championships!

Visitors can taste test, buy favourite food and drink products, and eat a range of cuisines in food courts located across the centre of Nantwich.

The Mr Dabber Town Trail also returns, with prizes to be won.

Visitors can collect entry forms at the Festival Office on the main square.

Entry to the Nantwich Food Festival marquees and food displays is free.

Yes that’s exactly what it is now, ghastly greasy food, and ale in plastic cups.

I didn’t bother this year, I went straight to the Gin Tasting at the Crown, that was brilliant, most importantly every bottle on the list was available in town later, and that’s something great as most of the trade stands don’t seem to trade with our local shops, so it’s a waste of time trying them out as the answer seemed to be “you can order them online” NO, WONT BOTHER, as then I see postage to add!!!! Short sightedness for sure.

  2. By the look of Saturday the food festival should be called The Nantwich let’s get drunk & eat over priced food festival !
Scores of people walking in the streets drinking alcohol I thought that is against the law .

  3. Nantwich town council didn’t show up all day at the Love Lane Nantwich food festival stand what a joke ! which we the tax payers have paid for .
The festival is advertised that Fridays opening hours are 11.00 am – 8.00 pm ,at 5.45 pm ish lots of the trade stands had packed up & gone on both car parks .

Interesting to know where the figure of 40,000 visitors come from, as that figure quoted has been the same every year!
Given that it is not a ticketed event who is counting these folk?
I am not attending this year, so will the figure be less next year? Huh!
