First-half - Dabbers striker Scott McGowan shot beats the keeper but was defended off the line v Winsford

Nantwich Town returned to action after a four-week lockdown to ease to a 5-1 win over neighbours Winsford United.

The friendly clash was switched to The Optimum Pay Stadium in Nantwich due to a waterlogged pitch at Winsford.

Four goals for Nantwich Town in the first-half secured the victory with a brace from Connor Heath, a Dave Webb penalty and a strike by Joe Mwasile.

The fifth goal for the Dabbers and the only goal of the second-half was scored by 16-year-old Oliver Pope.

It was Pope’s first senior goal.

The second-half also featured a penalty save from Dabbers keeper James Hawkins.

Nantwich return to action this Tuesday December 8 (7.45pm kick off) in the Buildbase FA Trophy First Round at The Optimum Pay Stadium vs Workington AFC of the Northern Premier League, North West Division.

Currently, Northern Premier League fixtures remain paused while leagues at that level work out how to complete fixtures without crowds as well as funding issues.
