Cheshire Police chiefs have welcomed the closure of an asylum seeker hotel in Crewe amid an “unacceptable” amount of crime and disorder.
The Crewe Arms Hotel was being used to accommodate single male asylum seekers, but it has now been closed following partnership work between Cheshire Constabulary and the Home Office.
Over recent months, Cheshire Police say they worked with the Home Office following reports of a number of incidents at the which caused concern in the local community.
The hotel, on Nantwich Road, accommodated around 115 asylum seekers until October 2025 since when numbers have been reducing steadily.
A Government decision was taken to close it and police say the final resident left in the past few days.
Cheshire Constabulary’s Assistant Chief Constable Alison Ross, said: “Firstly, I want to make clear that this isn’t a political stance by the Constabulary, nor is it about targeting asylum seekers.
“We have a duty to protect vulnerable people accommodated in these premises, as well as protecting residents in the wider local community.
“Over the last 12 months or so we have dealt with an unacceptable number of incidents of crime and disorder at the hotel and its immediate vicinity.
“Whilst our preference has always been that the hotel should be closed as soon as possible, we also recognise the value in co-operating with the Home Office and its contracted suppliers to manage the immediate demand on our resources.
“I would like to thank our partners at the Home Office for their cooperation and support throughout this process and I truly believe that the outcome reached is the best result for everyone.”

Surprised, what exactly is racist? Next you’ll suggest these asylum seekers are fleeing persecution (from France), and are here to enrich our culture, grafting, taking nothing, whilst paying taxes, with their loved ones, mostly female, safe at ‘home’.
Government policy in this area is truly shocking. 100 so-called migrants in one hotel is bad enough, but “disperse” them into the community and 200 people (one each side) get problem neighbours.
Dispersal achieves nothing and saves nothing.
Strangely, this commentator uses Trump-esque (but grammatically incorrect) capitalisation of nouns in his or her post.
Surely Donald doesn’t read “The Nantwich News”?
I’m a bit surprised that the moderators allowed a politically-motivated, racist rant as a comment on this story.
But it’s going to be considered as “free speech”, irrespective of content, I suppose…
Absolutely sickening, disgraceful scenario successive appallingly inept Govt’s actually allowing the ‘Invaders’ to even land on our shores in the 1st place?😱 – Those infinitely courageous Heroes who sacrificed all to defend our Country back in 1940s must be turning in their graves?
Roll on REFORM!!!!!!🙏
I’d have thought it’d be much better having the problem in one area much easier to deal with especially as that’s not in a residential area to annoy residents nearby. Not as if they’re going to disappear into thin air.
It was the right thing to do to close down the immigration hotel, as it is not acceptable for the police having to deal with an unacceptable amount of crime and disorder at the hotel. Nor that the local community has to be concerned about that. What is of a further concern is where all the 115 single men residents have been housed; is this within the wider community? If there was a problem at the hotel, then the problem is not going away…it continues with the people causing the problem, wherever they are. The UK is being targeted by asylum seekers landing on UK shores and it is fair comment to say, the majority are single men. The UK cannot sustain this influx. Clearly Labour’s policy of one in/one out isn’t working and paying countries to stop the influx is just wasting tax payers money as nothing is being done to STOP the influx. I am very concerned and frightened that this influx of single men is leading to a bigger problem on our shores.
So where are the former occupants now? Dispersed, making them more difficult (and costly) to manage, no doubt. Likely not deported. And yet, we still ‘welcome’ them to our shores, as guests. Meanwhile, what is to become of this establishment…I hope we all have good memories, steering well clear, allowing it to rot!
