A charity ball in honour of tragic South Cheshire youngster Lewis Crossley has helped to raise a staggering £15,600, his family said today.
Lewis, a pupil at Wybunbury Delves Primary, died almost a year ago after a brave battle against leukaemia.
The seven-year-old from Hough, near Shavington, was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
Mum and dad Adam and Susanne set up Team Lewis Trust to honour the Stoke City fanatic and help raise awareness and funds for leukaemia research.
And earlier this month the trust’s inaugural charity ball was staged at his favourite team’s Bet365 Stadium
It featured a host of special celebrity guests alongside family and friends, including the World’s strongest man 2017, Eddie Hall.
And it was hosted by Radio Stoke’s Liz Ellis. Guests enjoyed magic and entertainment, a 3-course dinner, and an auction.
There was also a live music band and a DJ set.
Lewis’ dad Adam said: “It was a great success.
“Two hundred people attended and we raised just over £15,600.
“After dinner we took a little time to remember Lewis, celebrate our wonderful fundraisers this year and show off some celebrity endorsements.
“We raised just over £15,600 – a quite fantastic achievement and significantly above our best expectations.
“Just as importantly, we’ve received lots of lovely feedback from guests about what a fantastic night they enjoyed.”
Proceeds from the Team Lewis event will help the trust provide grants for future research and treatments to improve cure rates for T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (T-ALL).
