queue outside - free pixnio image

Dear Editor,
As you walk around you see the sad sight of the elderly, disabled and infirm being forced to queue outside, in the cold and the wet, for long periods.

What are they are queuing for?

To be allowed into the bank, post office, doctor’s, dentist, vets, building society, chemist etc.

In most cases, the elderly, disabled and infirm could be allowed to queue inside, socially distanced, so why isn’t this being done?

It is cruel to make them queue in the cold and wet for long periods and it is detrimental to their health.

‘Putting Crewe First’ is calling on these local businesses to do the right thing and accommodate queues inside, where social distancing is possible.

In most cases, when you have been queuing for a long time outside, you find, when you finally get inside, that there is plenty of room for socially distanced queuing.

In the main, you don’t see these queues outside other businesses like supermarkets and everyday shops, so why do the banks, post offices, doctor’s, dentists, vets, building societies, chemists etc think they should inflict such pain on their elderly, disabled and infirm customers?

Yours faithfully,

Cllr Brian Silvester

Brian. Have tried to find Putting Crewe First web site. Can you tell me which queue it is in – inside or outside. Perhaps you should address this rather than having a go at everything.
