Bridge plan for Crewe station adopted by Cheshire East Council

Plans for a new bridge south of Crewe station aimed at easing congestion in Nantwich Road have been adopted by Cheshire East Council.

Cabinet members approved a preferred route for the new Southern Link Road Bridge at a meeting this week, following consultation held over the summer.

Police in Nantwich have warned residents to be on guard after revealing how an elderly couple had £2,000 stolen while out shopping at Sainsbury’s.

Officers told councillors at a Nantwich Town Council meeting that distraction thefts are likely to rise in the run up to Christmas.

The Environment Agency has reinstated a Flood Warning on the River Weaver in Nantwich after 24 hours of persistent rain.

River levels have risen at the Shrewbridge river gauge as a result of the rain, and a warning was put in place at around 5am today (November 8).

Four men who burgled shops in Nantwich town centre and stole more than £27,000 worth of stock, have been jailed.

David Benn, Benjamin Benn, Ben Collins and Aaron Hobin were all sentenced at Chester Crown Court, and jailed for a total of 13 years.
