A Nantwich housing application has been deferred with one councillor saying he didn’t want to put his name to a scheme which resulted in someone’s death because a full traffic assessment hadn’t been done.

Engineers were sent in to investigate the drainage on Hollyhurst Road, Wrenbury, between the junctions of Hollyhurst Road and Wrenbury Road.

Bright yellow daffodils have begun to appear across Nantwich, Acton and surrounding villages, signalling the welcome arrival of meteorological Spring.

The cheerful flowers are now lining verges, parks and green spaces throughout Nantwich, with clusters also spotted in nearby Acton and other local areas including Wistaston and Willaston.

Residents have voiced concerns over Muller Property Group’s plan to build another 400 homes in Stapeley which includes a new access road off Broad Lane.

The plan is the latest phase of their “Nantwich South” proposals which could see up to 1,000 homes in total on land between Broad Lane, Peter De Stapleigh Way and the A51 London Road.

A councillor says Cheshire East should call on the government to allow suitable brownfield sites to be compulsorily purchased for development to protect the open countryside.

Cllr Robert Douglas said the government’s decision to increase the annual housing requirement which meant Cheshire East no longer have a five-year land supply, has serious implications as the balance in planning decisions has been tilted in favour of developers.
