A Willaston and Rope councillor has urged residents to fight plans for almost 900 houses on green land near their villages. Himor Group Ltd has applied to build an 880-house “Gresty Oaks” development on land bounded by Rope Lane, Gresty Lane, Crewe Road and the A500 in Rope and Shavington.
Organisers of the Nantwich Food & Drink Festival have issued an appeal for more volunteers for this year’s event. With more activities planned, the committee now needs more help from willing workers in the town.

Motorists in Nantwich will enjoy free car parking as part of a new initiative by Cheshire East Council. From August 5, parking on the Snow Hill car park next to Nantwich Pool will be free of charge from 3pm each day.
