St Luke’s Hospice launches Christmas tree collection scheme

St Luke’s Hospice is inviting supporters to register their real Christmas trees for collection this January in exchange for a donation towards patient care.

Teams of dedicated staff and volunteers will be out across the community from Thursday 8th to Sunday 11th January, collecting and recycling trees as part of the hospice’s popular annual fundraiser.

Cheshire East councillors urged to oppose police PCSO axe plan

Cheshire East councillors are being urged to oppose plans by Cheshire Police Chief Constable which could see up to 60 of the county’s 87 PCSOs axed.

The force launched an internal consultation last month to save £13 million over the next four years through reducing PCSOs (police community support officers) and redistributing warranted police officers into neighbourhood policing teams.

A total of 44 complaints were received by the monitoring officer during the last financial year. Of these, 36 related to town or parish councillors.
