A video booth will be in Nantwich town square later this week, giving residents a chance to air their views on Cheshire Police. Chief Constable Dave Whatton and Cheshire Police Authority have initiated a series of roadshows across the county.
Stapeley families are invited to join in the parish’s first annual Christmas Carol concert later this month. The event will be held at the Cronkinson Farm pub (pictured), off Peter Destapleigh Way, from 6.30pm onwards on Wednesday December 21.
By Jonathan White Hundreds of families braved the chilly air to enjoy the traditional Nantwich Christmas Lights switch-on in the town square. Despite the cold, everyone had fun with the Signal Radio Roadshow featuring giveaways and several talented musicians.
Crowds of people visited Richmond Village in Nantwich to enjoy a traditional Christmas Fayre Craft stalls tempted visitors to buy Christmas gifts, while pupils from Stapeley Broad Lane and Nantwich Young Voices serenaded visitors with Christmas carols around the Christmas tree.
Nantwich families can get into the Christmas spirit this weekend with a Winter Wonderland occasion at Nantwich Civic Hall. The event, on Sunday December 4, will feature a special live performance by Rock Choir and more than 90 stalls selling various products and services.
A fun “12 Days of Christmas” hunt has been launched by Nantwich traders, with more than £3,700 of prizes up for grabs. Visitors to the town centre will be on the look out for the images (pictured here) depicting each of the “12 days”, scattered among around 60 stores taking part.
Fund-raisers raised the roof at Nantwich Cricket Club with a charity dance event in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness. The event, organised by Nantwich fund-raiser and former cancer sufferer Ann Aspinall, featured popular local band Hex.
A Nantwich primary school will be hosting Santa and a ‘Secrets Room’ at their Christmas Fair on December 9. Stapeley Broad Lane school’s fair will feature a range of games and stalls during the event between 5pm and 7pm.
Stapeley Parish Council is setting out its 2012-13 spending plans which could see an extra £9 per Band D property on council tax bills. Now families are being invited to a public meeting to air their views on the spending proposals, which amount to £61,000.
Elederly folk across Nantwich and South Cheshire are tucking into wholesome breakfasts thanks to a porridge donation from Mornflake. The Crewe-based breakfast foods firm has teamed up with Age UK Cheshire to distribute bags of porridge to pensioners at coffee mornings and advice sessions.
Wistaston & District Flower Club held a successful coffee morning raising more than £350. The event also had several stalls selling jams, chutneys and cakes and as well as plants, White Elephant and a Tombola.
Almost £1,500 was raised at Wistaston Holly Fair in Wells Green Methodist Church. The event, which attracted hundreds of people, included a raffle to win a hamper of fair trade goods.
More than 170 people attended the Service of Remembrance at Wistaston Memorial Hall. Residents, parish councillors, members of the Royal British Legion, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers from the Wistaston 35th SWC Scout Group all turned out in force.
