Plans for a 6.7% hike in the police precept were signed off today – but 30 of the 60 PCSOs in Cheshire facing redundancy will still lose their jobs.

The annual rise for the police element of the council tax (precept) for a band D property is usually capped at £15.

Cheshire East councillors agreed they are “minded to approve” plans for two homes at Nantwich – although the decision will be made by a planning inspector because the applicant appealed against non-determination.

Andy Lawton applied for permission in principle (PIP) for two dwellings on land to the east of Maylands at Stapeley.

Chamber of Commerce bosses are backing businesses calling for urgent action to end the traffic misery caused by a lorry ban on Baddington Bridge near Nantwich.
