By Jonathan White Cheshire East Council Leader Michael Jones faced concerned villagers in Wistaston over controversial housing development plans. He attended a packed Wistaston Parish Council meeting to discuss plans by developers for thousands of new homes in the village.
A new group called “Hands Off Wistaston” has been set up to protect the village’s Green Gap from development. Campaigners hope the group will help defend Wistaston against “unnecessary, unsustainable and unwanted development”.

Council planners look set to give a 240-home development on land in Nantwich the green light, despite objections. Gladman Developments want to build on land off Queen’s Drive, along with a children’s play area and convenience store.
Nantwich residents were left disgruntled when a property firm proposing to build 270 homes failed to turn up to give a presentation. Around a dozen residents attended Nantwich Town Council expecting to hear from Gladman Developments on proposals for land off Marsh Lane.
Angry residents in Nantwich hit out at plans to build 270 more homes on a greenfield site. Hundreds of homes have had leaflets delivered from Gladman Developments Ltd, who hope to build the houses on land off Queens Drive.
