Food security will be under threat if planners and government continue to allow developers to eat up agricultural land for housing, some Cheshire East councillors and residents have warned.
It’s a view expressed at many meetings as housing applications flood in across the borough for development on agricultural land.
Fire crews across South Cheshire were involved in battling a large blaze on land near Bentley Motors tonight (Sept 19th).
The fire broke out at around 8pm amid a number of reports of a fire in an open area off the A530 Middlewich Road.

Cheshire East is still looking into how much privately-owned green land it has been maintaining at the council tax payers’ expense – but says a report is due next month.
The council’s environment and communities committee was told in October last year the authority had been maintaining 547 parcels of land not registered as being owned by the council.
Plans have been submitted for the proposed new primary school at Kingsley Fields in Nantwich, writes Belinda Ryan.
