Scottish Power has suspended works on London Road in Nantwich after complaints about traffic control and parked vehicles.
The works began this week as part of a £3.9 million project by SP Energy Networks to upgrade supplies to Nantwich and Stapeley.
A crash which damaged level crossing barriers in Nantwich caused traffic gridlock in the town. Police are investigating the incident which witnesses say was caused by a vehicle driving through as the barriers were coming down at the crossing on Wellington Road.
Network Rail is set to demolish Nantwich’s aging railway signal box if plans get given the go ahead. They have submitted plans to Cheshire East Council to knock down the signal box at the level crossing on Wellington Road.
A woman in her 80s was injured after being hit by a train on the London Road level crossing in Nantwich. The accident happened as the elderly victim was walking across the crossing at around 2.30pm today (January 22).

Rail travellers between Nantwich and Crewe were delayed today after an accident at Willaston level crossing. Police had to close the rail line temporarily after the accident involving a lorry at the crossing at around 4pm on November 2.
