A dog that was dumped in a bag outside a Romanian animal shelter has been taken in by a Nantwich dog rescue to give her a better chance of adoption.

Three-year-old mixed breed Cerys was found in the Romanian village of Gura Vadului last October.

A South Cheshire homeless shelter will be able to support more people giving them somewhere safe and warm to go following funding from police and crime commissioner.

The Lighthouse Centre in Crewe will open its doors on Thursday evenings, inviting those in crisis or at risk of rough sleeping to receive a warm meal, shelter for the evening, access to the washing facilities and breakfast for the following day.
