Thousands of people crammed into Nantwich today for the town Fete and annual SkoolsFest event. Proud parents watched hundreds of primary school youngsters sing and dance on the green in front of St Mary’s Church.
By Jonathan White Hundreds enjoyed the warm weather to turn out for Wistaston Village Fete in the grounds of St Mary’s Church Rectory. It began with a procession from Wistaston Memorial Hall led by Scottish Piper John Beattie.
Organisers of this weekend’s Nantwich Town Fete are promising a fun-packed day for all the family. The event, a revival of an old tradition, will sit alongside “SkoolsFest”, which showcases young talent from the town’s schools in singing, dancing, drama and the arts.
Pupils and teachers across Nantwich are putting the final touches to the eagerly-anticipated SkoolsFest 2014 event later this month. The event will see all 16 schools in the Nantwich Education Partnership (NEP) take part for the second festival of its kind.
A series of lunch-time concerts are to take place at St Mary’s Church in Nantwich over the next three months. The free summer-time music spectacles will be held every Thursday from 12.30pm in June, July and August.
By Claire Faulkner Heritage Opera returned to Nantwich this week and gave an outstanding performance in St Mary’s Church on Monday night. “A Passion for Opera” was a night full of well-known operatic and musical theatre numbers performed by the professional touring company.
Nantwich St Mary’s Church will host the North West ‘s premier performance of St John Passion in April. The performance, by renowned composer Bob Chilcott, will take place on Sunday April 6 (Passion Sunday) at 7.30pm.
The NSPCC is inviting people to a Carols by Candlelight concert in Nantwich to raise funds for the children’s charity. The concert takes place in St Mary’s Church, Nantwich, tomorrow (December 5).
The Nantwich Singers will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Benjamin Britten with a concert at St Mary’s Church. They will be performing works by the celebrated English composer and also Henry Purcell this Saturday November 23.
A fund-raising coffee morning will take place at St Mary’s Church in Nantwich to help raise funds for Leukaemia research. The event will be held from 9am to midday on Saturday November 23 at the Nantwich Parish Rooms.
St Mary’s Parish Church in Nantwich will host a Choral Celebration of St Cecilia on Saturday November 23. The performance will feature the Nantwich Singers (pictured), the Nantwich Singers Orchestra and organist Simon Russell.
Graduates from Reaseheath College celebrated gaining their degrees at a high profile ceremony in Nantwich. Dressed in gowns and mortar boards, 135 graduates spilled out of St Mary’s Church for photographs with TV personality and farmer Kate Humble.
