Nantwich Town came from 3-0 down to win an extraordinary game at Whitby Town 5-4.
An incredible second half comeback included two goals each for Dave Macpherson (pictured) and Sean Cooke, Macpherson completing a hat-trick.
The 267 supporters must have thought it was all over at the break after the hosts took control with goals from Jordan Hughill on seven minutes, Kevin Burgess (22nd minute) and Andrew Leeson (26th minute).
But Macpherson gave Nantwich a lifeline with a 41st minute strike.
And with Jimmy Quinn’s half-time peptalk doing the trick, the Dabbers came storming out of the blocks after the break.
Macpherson grabbed a second on 62 minutes, Sean Cooke levelled the scores three minutes later and Nantwich took the lead on 74 minutes when Macpherson completed a fantastic hat-trick.
A stunned Whitby dug deep and five minutes later were back on terms when James Beadle fired home.
But this was to be Nantwich’s day, and Cooke sealed the three points with the winner five minutes from time.
And they clung on to the lead despite Whitby piling on the pressure. Victory moves Nantwich up to 9th place in the Evo-Stik Premier League and still in the hunt for the play-offs at this early stage.
