Jimmy Quinn, Nantwich Town manager

Nantwich Town boss Jimmy Quinn says he is looking to bring in a wide man before the start of the Evo-Stik Premier Division campaign.

Quinn says although he is happy with his squad, he would like to strengthen in wide areas.

Speaking after the 3-0 pre-season loss to Crewe Alexandra, he said: “I’m still looking for a wide player who may make a difference to the team but if that doesn’t come off then we’ve still got enough personnel.”

And although Nantwich were on the wrong end of a 3-0 defeat to The Alex, the former Northern Ireland international was happy with how a change in system seemed to work.

“I though the system worked quite well in the first half with three in the middle of the park.

“If we’d have matched up and played four against them, they would have overrun us. They’ve got clever forwards who drop into the holes and make it difficult for you.

“Overall, I felt we played quite well and just need to tighten up a bit and not give soft goals away.”

Quinn made his fifth addition of the summer on Friday in former Bangor City and FC United of Manchester forward, Kyle Wilson – a capture that has excited the Dabbers chief.

“He’s a decent player at this level, he’ll get goals and that’s what we’ve brought him in for.

“I’m very excited because we’ve got Mark Beesley who is a very good playmaker and we’ve get his fair share of goals too.

“We’ve got young Will Jones and Josh Lane as well so we’ve got plenty of options and competition for places.”
