A man died after an accident on London Road in Nantwich which closed the busy route for several hours.
Cheshire Police say the 66-year-old victim, a local man, was declared dead at the scene near the junction with Stapeley Terrace.
The collision involved two vehicles at about 1.25pm today (January 10).
Police closed the road off in both directions at the junctions withn Elwood Way and Churche’s Mansion while the wreckage was cleared. It’s not clear at this stage if anyone else was injured.
The road is now open again.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident or anyone with information to contact them on 101 quoting incident number 353 of 10 January.
Can anyone explain why it is necessary to close the road for several hours? It seems that the police do this more and more with no consideration for other people. I know they have to investigate the cause of the accident, but does it really need the road closed for so long?
Surely if someone has died it is quite understandable that the police would close the road? London road isn’t the only road in and out of Nantwich so it should have been easy to find another route. I find complaining about something so trivial as you being slightly put out highly insensitive.
I agree, wind your neck in and appreciate that someones life ended early, your journey ended a little later…
