Schools across Nantwich are preparing for a one-off special festival to celebrate their talented pupils.
SkoolsFest 2013 is being organised by the Nantwich Education Partnership (NEP) to show off the artistic side of pupils in primary and secondary schools.
Headteacher of Brine Leas Andrew Cliffe, chairman of the NEP, said: ‘The festival seeks to emphasise the importance of all the Arts subjects in the education of Nantwich pupils, whatever their age or stage in education.
“All 16 schools in the Partnership – 14 primary and the two high schools – will be taking part and showcasing all that is wonderful about the Arts and education in our town.”
The Festival takes place on Saturday June 29, using several venues in the centre of Nantwich.
The day will begin with a joint schools’ choir singing on the town centre green outside St Mary’s Church at 10am.
Later, children’s authors and illustrators Knife and Packer, will run a workshop for pupils.
School bands will compete in the Nantwich “Battle of the Bands” at Nantwich Civic Hall.
Drama presentations will also be taking place in the Civic Hall and a drama and poetry activity led by Geoff Smith, of Nantwich Young Actors, will take place at the Methodist Hall.
Nantwich Museum will host an exhibition, called “Our Town”, will feature artwork collected from all the schools.
Malbank School will be hosting an “Oscars” ceremony on Friday June 28 to showcase films created by pupils and will be showing children’s classic films on the morning of June 29 in their drama studio.
Mr Cliffe added: “This is the first such festival for children held in Nantwich and we would very much like your support to help make it a huge success.
“We are grateful to the cafes and restaurants that will be supporting us by offering ‘deals’ on drinks and snacks for children.
“Please ask for the SkoolsFest offer when making a purchase. McCormicks will provide a free Snugbury’s ice-cream for every sandwich purchased from their shop.
“Please bring your families along and enjoy what should be a fantastic and uplifting day for everyone.”
