A Nantwich golf club is to stage a fund-raising event in honour of a young boy badly injured in a skiing accident.
Brookfield Golf Club, in Hankelow, is to hold the Brook Hill Foundation Am-Am on Thursday August 29.
Brook, of Wrenbury, who played at the club, was seriously injured during a ski lesson in France six months ago.
The 10-year-old was hit on the head by an out-of-control skier and was left in a coma in a hospital at Toulouse for two weeks.
Brook was finally able to return home but had to re-learn major basic skills to stay alive, including breathing and swallowing to talking.
His story, recorded in a blog written by dad Louis, touched thousands of people including famous names who sent him best wishes including the Manchester United football team, Jonathan Ross, Sir Ian McKellen, Matt Smith, Bear Grylls and Sir Bradley Wiggins.
Louis told Nantwichnews: “Brook is doing really well, better than we expected, and is very much back to living life to the full.
“We had a minor drawback in July when he broke his arm falling off a zip wire!
“We are still visiting Alder Hey Hospital as he still has problems with his right eye as the third nerve was damaged in the accident, but we think there is some sight returning which is great.”
The family set up The Brook Hill Foundation to help families and their children cope with the impact of such accidents.
And in less than six months, the foundation has raised over £30,000.
“We have had a huge amount of support from the community and places like Brookfield Golf Club with fundraising,” added Louis.
One event was the Cholmondeley Triathlon, which Brook’s junior team won. He is pictured below with team-mates Molly Rogers (left) who did the swim, and Iona Rathbone, who completed the run.
Brook was also awarded the Chairman’s Cup at Whitchurch Rugby Club for his bravery.
