More than 20 Nantwich Litter Group volunteers targeted areas off Beam Street in their latest crackdown on the town’s litterbugs.

Volunteers young and old covered a wide area off Beam Street from Manor Road to Volunteer Fields and routes in between.

As well as rubbish, they gathered a large quantity of leaves from pathways next to the Boot & Shoe pub leading to Morrisons supermarket.

Thirty bags were filled and then collected for disposal by Streetscape, Cheshire East Council’s street cleansing department.

Afterwards, volunteers were invited for a complimentary tea and talk by the Wellness Centre in Hospital Street.

The group has several forthcoming dates planned and anyone is welcome to join us.

Volunteers will be lending a hand at the Nantwich Food and Drink Festival on September Saturday 7 and 8.

There will be a quarterly public meeting at Brookfield Hall to discuss local litter issues on Wednesday September 11 at 4pm.

The next group pick will be on Wednesday September 25, meeting at 10am at the end of Pillory Street near the Laura Ashley shop.
