Two mouth-watering meals have been crowned winners of the “Dabber’s Dish” competition in Nantwich.

The competition was launched to coincide with the Nantwich Food and Drink Festival.

A range of culinary delights were entered into the event, organised by town councillor Stuart Hutton.

And winners were Bill Pearson with a special home-made soup, and a Dabbers Pie created by Nantwich butcher Harry Clewlow and his grandson Ronnie.

Cllr Hutton said: “It was a pleasure to present the awards to the winners, Mr Pearson for his wonderful Nantwich Cheese and Onion Soup, and to H Clewlow Butchers for their famous Dabber’s Pie.

“I’m extremely grateful to all the businesses and individuals that entered the competition.

“The eagerness of local people to get involved in this and other initiatives goes to underline just what makes our town such a great place to live and visit – the people.

“I was bowled over by some of the creativity displayed by competitors, some of whom have given permission for their ideas to be published in the museum’s recipe book.

“The quality of the winning entries is also a testament to the excellent local produce available in and around our town. I hope local people will take these recipe’s to their hearts – or stomachs – have a go at making them at home and maybe even add their own twists.”

Presentations were made by town Mayor Cllr John Lewis at Nantwich Museum with community development manager Kate Dobson.

Around 1,000 visitors passed through the doors of Nantwich Museum during the Food and Drink Festival.
