The workshop is part of the MMU Novella Award, a new international prize for novellas that is aimed at e-reader users in search of good short reads.

The winner will be rewarded with a £1,000 cash prize.

The workshop will be looking at fiction-writing craft, which will involve writing exercises. It is free to attend but places are limited.

To register contact Crewe Library on 01270 375295 or log onto www.mmunovellaaward.org.uk for more information.

There is also a “Spilling the Beans” art exhibition and workshop taking place on Wednesday February 19, between 1-3pm.

Running between February 17 and March 3, it is exhibiting work by local residents co-ordinated and inspired by professional artists from the Art Up Close network.

And as part of this, artist Bridgid Mullally will be running a free art workshop on February 19 to enable more art work to be added to the exhibition.

All art materials and professional tuition is provided free of charge for the practical session.

Places are limited, adults only,  book your place by calling at the library or phone Angus Varley on 01270 375295.
