Celebrity chef Nigel Haworth is to open a new dining pub in a village between Nantwich and Chester.
Haworth hopes The Nag’s Head at Haughton Moss, near Tarporley, will become a famous dining experience, and has helped create 35 new jobs for the area.
The renovation project at the historic venue, which was first opened back in 1680, is being led by the Ribble Valley Inn group.
The group has four other sites which hold an AA Rosette and place in the Michelin Pub Guide.
Haworth teamed up with Craig Bancroft (pictured, right), of the renowned Northcote restaurant in Lancashire, to form the group.
And they believe the Grade II listed Nag’s Head, the group’s first site in Cheshire, is the perfect location as it reflects their passion for historic, unique and beautiful settings.
There is a bowling green, kitchen garden, and large al fresco dining space with seating up to 100 covers.
Haworth, founder and chef patron for Ribble Valley Inns, said: “I can’t wait to open The Nag’s Head in Cheshire.
“It’s a county that’s got it all… excellent produce, stunning scenery, and buildings steeped in fascinating history.
“These are all requirements for our vision at Ribble Valley Inns – we’re about delivering the very best, premium food and drink and creating the perfect, original and relaxed environment to enjoy that in.
“Each site is completely unique, celebrating the character, history and locality, and The Nag’s Head at Haughton will have its own identity that we’re very much looking forward to revealing.”
The Nag’s Head project has created more than 35 full and part time jobs.
The redevelopment has seen large-scale spend with local business, and chief executive of Ribble Valley Inns Wayne Chapman has commissioned a local artist to capture the surroundings for a unique exhibition.
General manager of the new-look venue will be Darren Gallagher.
There will be a grand opening of the venue on June 9.
After that opening times will be lunch (Mon-Fri) 12-2pm, Sat 12-9pm, Sun 12-8.30pm; afternoon nites (Mon–Fri) 12–5.30pm; dinner (Mon-Thurs) 5.30-8.30pm, Fri 5.30-9pm, Sat 12-9pm, Sun 12-8.30pm.
