Nantwich Food and Drink Festival is set to unveil a new look this year, offering visitors more displays and activities to get their teeth into.
Organisers are to include a new giant food hall on Love Lane car-park in the centre of town.
The Bowling Green car-park will be a key venue with a large marquee housing delicacies from around the world and a seated food court giving families a chance to eat alfresco.
In the town square there will be a food demonstration theatre with celebrity chef Brian Mellor displaying his culinary talents alongside chefs from Cheshire pubs and restaurants.
Businesses across town will be staging events including whisky tasting sessions, sausage-making workshops, cupcake decorating classes, Aga food demonstrations and more.
Nantwich Food and Drink Festival Ltd, a not-for-profit organisation, says there will be a vast array of regionally produced gourmet foods, beer and wine tastings with more than 2,000 products to sample.
The country’s leading purveyors of fine foods will be present as well as speciality dishes to try such as ostrich, buffalo meat and haggis.
Festival chairman Deborah Robb said: “The whole point of the event is to support Nantwich and showcase it as a great place to visit and spend money in local shops.
“With around 30,000 people visiting each year we believe it does that.
“In support, Cheshire East Council has allowed us use of the car-parks over the weekend.
“Park and Ride has been arranged with Malbank and Brine Leas schools to compensate for these lost spaces.
“Barony Park and Nantwich Town FC also offer spaces within walking distance.
“Help is coming from many sources, in particular our volunteers. Everything is shaping up into a fantastic weekend.”
Residence in Mill Street will be a festival venue for children’s activities.
Nantwich Methodist Church will stage its ever popular Pudding Club offering hearty plates of home-made desserts and cakes.
Mrs Robb, a cookery book author, added: “The whole difference about our event is that it is free which has made other festivals sit up and take notice. Some have even rearranged their dates so as not to clash with Nantwich.
“But being free makes money tight. However, we will invest in maps again this year to draw footfall down side streets as much as possible so the whole town can benefit.”
