Nantwich town square will host the annual Societies Spectacular event this weekend.
Club and society members across the borough will be in the square between 10am and 2pm on Saturday July 19.
The event aims to show-off the wide range of activities that take place locally, and to give everyone the chance to get involved.
Now in its third year, more than 30 groups are expected to take part in the 2014 Societies Spectacular, which is run by Nantwich Town Council.
Activities and demonstrations as diverse as astronomy, amateur dramatics, scuba diving, arts and crafts, fitness and cinema will be represented at the event.
Nantwich Town Cllr Stuart Hutton, event organiser, said: “People don’t realise Nantwich and the surrounding area has an embarrassment of riches in terms of clubs and societies.
“There really is something for everyone, from arts and crafts to extreme sports.
“Joining a club is a great way to meet new people, do something you’ve always wanted, or learn new skills – but most importantly, have fun.
“Everyone in the area should come to our town, see what goes on, and have a go.”
Nantwich-based local radio station The Cat will broadcast live from the square during the day.
“I’m extremely proud of all of these wonderful groups,” Cllr Hutton added.
“Towns aren’t just collections of buildings and roads, they are communities of people, and the people in these groups are absolutely the life and soul of our town.”
Clubs interested in getting involved in next year’s event should visit Cllr Hutton’s website for details.
What a disappointment! I was away last year and missed this event, so was looking forward to check out what’s on offer in Nantwich this time. Arriving at 1.30pm (thanks to those concerned for moving event to Civic Hall because of the rain) I found that all the exhibitors had packed up. By 1.40 nearly all had gone – not even any leaflets or contact details left apart from the WI.
The closing time was advertised as 2.00 – which seems very early in any case – but to pack up so soon?
