Railway Hotel maintained their lead in the Premier Division of the Crewe Regional Sunday Football League with 1-0 win over title rivals Square One.

In a tight affair, Railway Hotel looked the sharpest in the first half.

And in the 37th minute, Lee Mellor eluded his marker on the goal line and his cross was turned in by Jez Tagg.

Square One upped their tempo in the second period and although they looked dangerous the Railway keeper was rarely extended.

Railway held on for the win to consolidate their position at the top of the table.

Sydney Arms had an off day as they went down 4-1 to Willaston White Star.

Mike Evans (2), Jordan Allen and Asher Moat did the damage for Willaston while David Daintith got the solitary strike for Sydney Arms.

NHB have been coming under the cosh in recent fixtures and unfortunately AFC Leopard were in no mood for mercy as they ran out 8-2 winners.

Mike Blundell (3), Dave Johnson (2), Tom Butler (2) and Callum Hassall made up the Leopard tally with Henry Buckley getting a double for NHB.

Rory Saunders also grabbed a brace as he helped Talbot to a 3-1 win over AFC Barkode.

Shaun Chandler got the other Talbot goal while Steve Martin netted for Barkode.

Ocean, now playing at Reaseheath, had an off day as they went down 7-0 to Crewe Athletic.

Ocean will have an opportunity to gain revenge next week as they clash again, this time in the Crewe FA Sunday Cup.

In Division 1, Rising Sun dented the record of league leaders Leighton as they won 5-1.

Steve Pattinson bagged a hat-trick with goals coming from Darren Lockett and Andy Tebay.

Dave Furber got the Leighton consolation.

Wistaston Athletic closed in on the leaders thanks to a 6-3 win over Boot & Shoe Villa.

Rhys Potter and Jake Meander both hit braces for Wistaston with singles from Ryan Broadhurst and Jordan Smith.

The Villa goals came from Ryan Bridden, Kane Fletcher and Gary Beardsmith.

Faddiley are level on points with Wistaston after they beat Salvador 3-2.

Ryan Barnett, Joey Hilton and Matt Scot were the Faddiley marksmen while Tom Edge bagged a double for Salvador.

Bank Corner, while slightly off the pace, are still in the promotion race and had Matt Ravenscroft to thank for a hat-trick in their 4-2 win over Nantwich Young Farmers.

Nathan Dewey got the other Bank Corner goal with Simon Roberts and Richard Ford netting for the Farmers.

Crewe FC switched their fixture with Santa Maria and it proved to be a good move as they won 4-1.

Nathan Quinn (2), Louis Everall and Jason Riley got the Crewe goals with Dominic Latham on target for Santa Maria.

Audlem are still looking for their first League points but Sandbach Town proved too strong as they won 3-0 with goals from Ollie Dunning (2) and Tim Latham.

The Haslington and Rookery Taven fixture was abandoned after 70 minutes following a serious neck injury to a Rookery Tavern player.

The player was taken away in an ambulance and the referee Graham Sands took the decision to abandon the fixture. Haslington were winning 4-2 thanks to goals from Declan Stubbs, Jordan Prince (2) and an own goal.

The Rookery strikes had come from Steven Weekes and Paul Roberts.

A spokesman from Haslington indicated there was no problem with the decision from the referee and their concern was more for the injured Rookery Tavern player.
