The Oxfam shop in Nantwich is one of just 21 in the UK chosen to sell an exclusive vinyl by Tim Burgess, lead singer of The Charlatans.
The vinyl is a collaboration between Burgess and best-selling author Ian Rankin.
“A Little Bit of Powder” is a short story that Rankin wrote for Burgess’ record label O Genesis.
And now they have released a limited edition 12” release available only at 21 Oxfam shops – including Nantwich’s store on Pepper Street.
The record, which costs £9.99, features actor Craig Parkinson reading Rankin’s short story with theme music by Burgess and Factory Floor’s Nik Void.
There is also a version of the theme with vocals by Burgess and Void on the B side.
Rankin and Burgess decided they wanted others to benefit from the release and chose Oxfam.
Val Richards, volunteer manager at Oxfam Nantwich, said: “Oxfam Nantwich is one of only 21 Oxfam Shops chosen to receive this record as we have done so well in the past selling music.”
A limited run of only 500 records will be in the stores, and will not be available online.
The Nantwich shop will be open on each Sunday in December.
