A pupil from Shavington High School has won The Cat Community Radio Station logo competition.
Emily Clarke, 13, from Willaston, will see her design represent the area’s first FM station for years to come.
The competition was open to people living or working in Crewe, Nantwich and the surrounding areas, to design the radio station’s new logo ready for their move to 107.9FM.
Emily submitted her logo alongside dozens of other entries, and was invited to work with South Cheshire College Graphics student, Emily Sproston, to transfer the drawing into a finished design.
The impressive logo will be used throughout the new marketing materials and branding leading to the launch.
Steve Abbott, graphic designer for The Cat, said: “I’ve been extremely impressed with Emily’s original design and the work which has been done digitally at South Cheshire College to develop it into a working graphic.
“We are excited about implementing the new logo and believe it delivers a fun visual element as well as a professional looking design, which is what we wanted to a achieve.”
Emily Clarke said: “The logo competition has been a lot of fun and I was so pleased to have won the competition.
“Coming into college to work with Emily has also been a big help because I’ve learnt a lot about digital illustration.
“I’m pleased that my work was chosen and I’m looking forward to seeing the final logo being used by The Cat.”
Kirsty Rollings, marketing co-ordinator for The Cat, said: “We received such a wonderful response to this competition, and so it was a difficult decision for those judging to decide on a winner.
“With our new status as the only FM station dedicated to the Crewe and Nantwich area, we wanted to freshen up our look, starting with a new logo which people from our local area helped to design.
“Emily’s design captured what we were looking for, and it was brilliant to see the development of the logo and the final image.
“We would like to thank everybody who took part in the competition.”
