Nantwich Town coach Danny Griggs said they were made to pay for giving away a “soft goal” in their FA Cup defeat.
The Dabbers were beaten 1-0 away at Spalding United in the first qualifying round.
And despite Nantwich pressure, they were unable to break down their lower tier opponents.
Griggs said: “We are all very disappointed.
“We had defended very well as well as creating a few chances, but we got nothing and gave a soft goal away.
“We will put it right next Saturday against Grantham Town. So we will take the annoyance of this loss into that game.
“It’s got to be a win, we don’t do two losses on the bounce.
“All the other times we have lost we have responded with a win or a draw. We’ll be going all out for a win on Saturday.”
Spalding won the tie just before the half hour mark when a long ball down the line was headed back by Andy White.
But it was picked up by Josh Moreman, who raced into the area and slotted past Terry Smith.
