A community project to resurface a footpath connecting two Nantwich estates has been completed after confusion over its ownership.
The work was carried out by Cheshire East Council’s highways service after residents reported poor condition of the path between Clonners Field and Cronkinson Oak on the Stapeley estate.
It was making public access difficult, but a land registry search failed to show who owned and was responsible for the path.
Cheshire East’s highways team stepped in to surface the footpath.
Councillor David Brown, Cabinet member for highways and infrastructure, said: “This is a very important route for people who live on these estates, particularly as it provides access to Nantwich town centre.
“My thanks go to the highways team for delivering this corporate social responsibility scheme.”
