The new-look Co-op store in Stapeley marked its re-opening by donating new balance bikes and equipment to Pear Tree School pupils.
Youngsters were delighted to receive seven new bikes, helmets and road signs sponsored by the newly re-opened store.
Store manager Chris Morton said: “To mark the expansion of our store and the importance we place on working with our community, we approached Pear Tree Primary School to see how we could support their pupils in their learning.
“The teachers were just undertaking some training using balance bikes and we felt this was an ideal initiative for the Co-op to support as it helps to encourage the children in physical activities and healthy living.”
Lucy Newman, reception class teacher and PE co-ordinator at Pear Tree, said: “We were thrilled to accept the generous donation by the Co-op.
“We work closely with our community and we were delighted they agreed to purchase the balance bikes.
“The seven bikes, helmets and road signs will be used to develop the children’s road safety skills, physical fitness and stamina as well as offering us lots of fun while we are learning.”
The new-look Cronkinson Farm store was opened on Thursday after a four-week closure and a £760,000 expansion into the neighbouring unit.
