The internationally-acclaimed Chinese State Circus will roll into South Cheshire later this month.
Crewe Lyceum will host the spectacular new live production Dynasty on Tuesday November 29.
The show features 30 world-class acrobats, aerial artistes, jugglers and masters of martial arts interacting with super-human physical skills and dexterity of the masters of martial arts – the legendary Shaolin Warriors.
The Chinese State Circus embodies a rich tapestry of Chinese art, history and culture which dates back more than 2,000 years.
This cultural legacy shines through in the exhibition of their acrobatic skills, which have been honed and perfected.
The resulting circus is spectacular which takes audiences on a journey through Chinese culture.
Chinese acrobatics has a long history with a distinct national style, evolving from people’s everyday life and work.
Historical records, ancient carvings and decorative patterns on utensils show the origin of Chinese acrobatics more than 2,000 years ago in the period of the Warring States.
The history of the Chinese State Circus spans 25 years and was first conceived by Creative Director Phillip Gandey after he witnessed Oriental acrobats performing at the Monte Carlo Circus Festival.
He soon worked out the logistics of transporting 45 artistes, directors, interpreters and five tonnes of props half-way around the world.
Lyceum marketing officer Michelle May said: “Set to be a real feast for the eyes and jam-packed with thrill after thrill, a trip to see the Chinese State Circus in action in Crewe is a night out like no other!
“Exhilarating and breath-taking from the start, don’t miss your chance to witness these world-class and incomparable performers.”
