Nantwich MP Edward Timpson to run London Marathon for Army Benevolent Fund

Crewe and Nantwich MP Edward Timpson is to run the London Marathon to raise money for the Army Benevolent Fund and Muscular Dystrophy UK.

Mr Timpson is training for a race which he has completed 12 times since starting in 1988.

This year, he is running with fellow Cheshire MP Graham Evans, who represents Weaver Vale.

The Army Benevolent Fund gives a lifetime of support to soldiers and veterans from the British Army, and their immediate families, when they are in need.

It provides grants to individuals through regiments and corps, and supports a range of specialist charities that sustain the British Army ‘family’.

Muscular Dystrophy UK brings individuals, families and professionals together to beat more than 60 rare progressive muscle-weakening and wasting conditions.

It affects around 70,000 children and adults in the UK.

The charity supports research to find effective treatments and cures, and provides a range of services and resources to help people live as independently as possible.

Mr Timpson said: “Graham and I have seen the great work that these charities are doing, and so running the marathon is a fantastic way for us to help them.

“We’re grateful for every donation we receive, because even a small amount can make a real difference in the voluntary sector.”
