People have paid tribute to long-service Willaston volunteer Helenor King who has died.

The 81-year-old was recognised by many as a hard-working volunteer for a number of causes, including the Samaritans for Crewe Stroke Support Group for decades.

She was still running the Stroke Group until early December, when she was diagnosed with cancer.

Helenor died early on Friday morning, March 2.

Rev Den Harding, of Wells Green Methodist Church in Wistaston, is to stage a celebration of Helenor’s life.

Rev Harding said: “It is with great sadness that I pass on the news that Helenor King died. Please hold in your prayers husband Tony, children Elaine, Jan and Crawford, and all the extended family.

“The funeral service will take place on Tuesday 13th March at 10.45am at Wells Green followed by a family committal.

“May Helenor rest in peace and rise in glory. Well done good and faithful servant.”

It will take place on Tuesday March 13 at 10.45am at Wells Green Methodist Church, Brookland Avenue, Wistaston.
